This has been a long time coming. The verbiage of “self care” was not around when I was a child, a teen, a nurse, or a younger Mom. Of course we knew to take care of ourselves, but the scope was limited. We were expected to do it, but with no space provided or support given. Sound familiar? Just add it to your to-do list.
This post is not about nutrition, movement, or sleep. Shocker to some, I’m sure.
“I’ll sleep when I’m dead” and “I wish I didn’t have to sleep. I could get so much more done.” These were things I heard my Mom say countless times. At one point, we were made to read. I didn’t appreciate the luxury, I preferred being outside playing with a ball and climbing trees. We would count the minutes down until we could stop reading and go play.
